What is the opportunity?
We are seeking an exceptional and engaging Part-Time Online Lecturer to join our MSc Engineering Management programme, starting in April.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the learning experience of postgraduate engineers transitioning into leadership, strategy, and enterprise roles across global industries.
This is a fully online, delivery-focused role. You will act as both Module Lead and Research Supervisor, helping to create an outstanding student experience through high-quality facilitation, assessment, supervision, and academic oversight.
Working Pattern
This role is 0.25 FTE, equivalent to 10 hours per week across 48 weeks.
Hours are typically spread across 2–3 working days per week, with availability distributed across the week. Hours cannot be concentrated solely at the beginning of the week.
Hourly rate: £18.23
You will oversee one or more modules within the Engineering Management MSc, which may include areas such as:
Quality Management and Reliability
Logistics & Global Supply Chain
Financial Management for Engineers
Managing People & Organisations
Global Manufacturing Enterprise
Project Management
Teaching materials are pre-developed, and your role will focus on leading, facilitating, stewarding, assessing, and enhancing the learning journey for students.
What does success look like?
Overseeing and managing the delivery of assigned online module(s).
Facilitating and moderating student discussions to encourage engagement and critical thinking.
Running live online webinars and interactive learning sessions.
Ensuring teaching delivery aligns with module learning outcomes and programme standards.
Promoting high standards of digital engagement and inclusive online learning practices.
Setting, marking, and providing high-quality, constructive feedback on assessments in line with institutional and partner policies.
Monitoring learner progress using available analytics tools and intervening where necessary to support student success.
Supervising and assessing Master’s research projects.
Guiding students in research design, methodology, and academic writing.
Providing advice on study skills and independent research practices.
Recognising diverse learner needs and referring students to appropriate support services when required.
Fostering a professional, inclusive, and supportive online learning environment.
Creating an engaging and interactive digital learning experience that encourages participation and collaboration.
Contributing to quality assurance processes and module standardisation.
Attending relevant programme meetings and collaborating effectively with academic colleagues.
Completing mandatory training within the first three months of appointment.
What you bring to the table
Essential
A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Finance, Management Science, or a closely related field).
Experience teaching within UK Higher Education in one or more relevant subject areas.
Eligibility for Fellowship of AdvanceHE.
Strong digital literacy and confidence delivering high-quality online learning.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for supporting postgraduate students to succeed.
Desirable
Experience delivering and facilitating fully online teaching.
Experience supervising postgraduate dissertations or research projects.
Industry experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, or related sectors.
